ITTP Prague TEFL: Friday Questions

This Friday's question is...

-Q: I'm coming for the September course. I'm a soccer fan and wanted to hear from you who you think will win the Euro 2012 soccer championship?

-A: :-) Well, for me personally (being an Englishman), I would love to see the England squad lift the trophy. Second to that I would love to see the Czechs win the competition. Unfortunately I just don't see either of those scenarios happening. I would have to go with one of the current strong country teams, such as Spain, Germany or Netherlands (Holland). There might be a few upsets but these teams are always consistent. Personally, I think that what happens in Group B of the Group stage will have the ultimate knock on effect on the rest of the competition.

If I were pushed to shove then my money would be on the Netherlands winning the competition.

I don't really see any upsets from the host country teams (Poland and Ukraine), but of course just having the competition based there is an achievement in itself.

The (rather confusing) official website of the games can be viewed here: http://www.uefa.com/
To get to the group section with games listed you can view this information here:

Many people, including high profile politicians, are staying away from Euro 2012 games played on Ukrainian soil because of the plight of the jailed Ukrainian opposition leader Yulia Tymoshenko and we must bring to light the reason for this:

Back to the football, I'm reminded of a joke which my German artist friend once told me (regarding the World Cup, not the European Cup) :
For England to win the World Cup there must be 3 specific conditions.
1. England must be playing Germany.
2. The game must be played at Wembley.
3. It must be 1966.
:-)

Thank you for your time.

Hope it helps!

Hezky den!/Lovely day!

Neville :-)
