ITTP TEFL Prague: Friday Questions

This Friday's question is...

-Q: Hello, I am extremely interested in your program. I was hoping to gain more insight into securing a job after completion of the course. Is it typical to receive a job right away, or is there a long period of wait time before employment is found? Do teachers need to wait until the following school year begins? Please advise. Thank you! - Brittany

-A: The answer to this question is that it largely depends on you. We begin job guidance from Week 2 of the course and if you are active in your search then you can expect to be teaching within a week or two of course completion. Most of our Clients receive job offers before course completion. There is work available all year round but if taking the course in November then you might need to wait until the beginning of January before you receive full-time hours (you can still find work though even at this time of year - just less hours though to start off with). The absolute best time to take the course is either in August or September because these months coincide with the start of the new school year and this is the time of the year when you will have the most choice regarding which type of teaching work and where you will do the teaching within your area of choice - at other times of the year you might need to compromise a little as to the location of teaching classes within your area of choice. If you are planning on teaching in Asia after the course then you should count on the new school year there beginning late February/early March. Again though, work is usually available year round.
