Lots of our clients when they first arrive are often initially confused with the different currency and denominations of coins and notes, understandably so - especially if they have come through other countries where they have just got used to a second currency type. The Czech currency is the Koruna Ceska, or 'Czech Crown' (CZK). The following photos show the different types of legal tender notes and coins in the Czech Republic so that if you are reading this then you will hopefully gain a better sense for the local currency when you first arrive:

The exchange rate of the Czech Crown to other currencies jumps up and down like a yo-yo, often on a daily basis. The official exchange rate can be viewed on the website pages of the Czech National Bank:

(
Kurzy devizoveho trhu)
Today's exchange rate of the CZK to USD for example is 20.639 and this means that if you have a 100 CZK note then you have the equivalent of about US$5. A 20 CZK coin in your pocket would therefore be the approx equivalent of US$1.
Remember also that you need to be especially careful if changing money up in Prague:
