ITTP Prague: Friday's Question

This Friday's question is...

-Q: Is it possible to apply for and obtain a teaching position in Prague from the US or is it easier to acquire a position while in Prague? Do most positions require an in person interview?

-A: It is the norm for schools to want to interview you in person when you are in Prague and schools rarely (if ever) employ from overseas. The reasons for this are:

1). It takes time and resources to conduct interviews and set up teaching contracts and if employing from overseas then there is always the possibility that the applicant won't follow through with the teaching contract position and will leave the school high and dry.

2). Schools want to see you in person, they want to see signs that you are committed to being in Prague for the immediate future at least, and that first commitment step is actually being in Prague.

3). Schools will usually want to see you conduct a short demo class before offering you work, and this means needing to be available to come in to the school and teach.

Hope it helps!

Hezky den!/Lovely day!
