Prague's main train station is currently having a major (long overdue) 21st century facelift, so that it is now beginning to look more like a safe, bustling train station - as opposed to being the highly dodgy and decrepit shell that it used to be. When you next make a visit to the train station (Praha Hlavni Nadrazi), be sure to take the escalator up to the cafe Fantova Kavarna, where once upon a time the main train station entrance was. Just follow the blue signs located next to the departures board on the 1st floor of the train station (Historicka budova nadrazi).
The first photo was taken directly in front of the cafe (the former main train station entrance) and the clock ominously rests at either Noon or Midnight, 24 hours a day. "Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day" (Withnail and I). I prefer to think that the clock is permanently frozen at Midnight.
The second photo is of a section of the cafe and although beautifully artistic, you can see even from the photo that major renovation work is needed to save this wonderful remnant of times gone by.
Hezky den!/Lovely day!
Neville :-)
